Quietly, Kagami sat at the edge of the water. Sighing, she closed her eyes and shifted into a laying down position on the sand. Her reflection, surprisingly, didn't copy her movements.
"You know, you could at least try to be discreet," Kagami sighed, glaring a little at the wolf in the water.
"Sorry," her reflection said back, a bit embarrassed. "I just think that the odds of someone seeing us talking are very low. It should be safe for me to not copy your movements here."
"I guess you're right Imagak," Kagami sighed, looking at her double. Her differently coloured eyes gleamed as the water shone brightly from the rays of the sun. She was breathless from the view and sighed contently. It was great to be alone sometimes, but she didn't want to be alone anymore. She just wished that she had someone to talk to other than her own reflection.

Rather unfortunately for Kagami. She was in fact, not alone. Sliver drifted beneath the surface of the waves, watching the wolf apparently talk with herself. He heard nothing of the conversation, though he decided it would be okay to risk a fight for a chance to talk to someone. His fin moved powerfully, the muscles rippling as if a body of water themselves. His passage did not disturb the water, and he approached the beach within a minute. He stopped suddenly, a question stirring in his mind. How would he do this? Should he just go up and introduce himself, or see what she was doing first. After all, visitors were not common on the island, and he would have noticed any airborne wolves. Swimming must have been difficult, as the mainland wasn't that close. That would be a good place to start he thought. Sliver pulled himself onto dry land and shook the water from his fur. His fin changed back into the usual tail, and he waited to see if she would notice him.

"Don't look now," the reflection whispered, "but we're being watched. Seems like I was wrong; there is someone else here." Kagami froze up, sniffing the air. Aside from the breeze blowing across the water, she could smell another wolf close by.
"So what do we do?" Kagami whispered back, her muscles tensed up in case she needed to run away. If she had to, also had to be prepared for a fight.
"Well, first you need to calm down. We won't get anywhere if you're this tense." Kagami relaxed her muscles a bit. "Good. Now you need to face this wolf and get it over with. If its an enemy, run or fight. If not, calm down and try to make some small talk." Slowly, she turned, making her one blue eye and one golden eye visible. He didn't seem dangerous, but then again, looks could be deceiving. She immediatly sent a paw close to the mirror around her neck, but even she didn't know why she did that.

The soft white wolf stared at the water for a short amount of time, then turned to face him. She had tensed up after he had come ashore, but seemed to have relaxed a bit. "Hey there." He ventured, trying to appear as non-threatening as possible. "Why are you so far from the mainland?" He asked. It wasn't exactly the best way to start a conversation, but it worked. He pawed at the sand nervously, waiting for her response, be it vocal or painful. He didn't want to fight, but some loners just don't like any wolf, and they looked like any other wolf (sometimes). He couldn't stop his pawing, so he lay down instead, pinning his legs beneath his body. "My name is Sliver" He said, hoping he sounded friendly. No one had been on the island in a while, and he hadn't visited the mainland in even longer.

Kagami was trembling a bit, but she managed to make it unnoticed. Showing fear in the face of a potential opponent was never a good thing. He didn't seem like an enemy to her, though. She lowered her guard a bit, but didn't completely drop it. He could still be dangerous.
"Sometimes I just need to get away from the mainland," she said softly. It was the truth; on the mainland there were many more dangers. On an island, it was much less dangerous. It was the perfect setting for someone like her; a wolf who prefered to flee whenever she could and fight only as a last resort.
"It's nice to meet you," she said politely. "My name is Kagami." Since he gave her his name, she knew that she should also give hers in order to be polite. She licked her paw and ran it across one of her black ears, needing a way to ease her nervousness.

"Yeah, I know that feeling." He said. The longer they sat there, the less likely it was that she was going to attack, but you never know. He decided to ask a question that some others might have asked first. "Who were you talking to? I haven't seen anyone else on the island." It was the kind of question not everyone would answer. After all, what if she was a spy? Or even just crazy? It wasn't something he really wanted to think about, so he let the thought slide out of his mind. He lay there, awaiting her response, when he noticed a dark shape under the water. A fish was swimming lazily about ten yards from shore. At the sight of the prey, he realized he was ravenous. He didn't even pause to think about how she might react. Sliver just got up and bolted past her, jumping into the water and swimming without pausing. His reacquired tail fin worked fast, and he stopped fifteen feet out to sneak up on the poor fish.

"Oh, so you heard that?" she commented sheepishly. "I was just talking to my reflection." Sheesh, how crazy did she sound just now? "It's one of my powers; I can speak to my reflection, and she speaks back." She was glad that she had this kind of power; sometimes she could get really lonely and just needed someone to talk to. Sure, talking to her reflection sometimes made her believe that she was crazy, but it was better than having no one to talk to. When Silver dove into the water out of nowhere, it would be an understatement to say that she was surprised. It would be an even bigger understatement to say that she was surprised at the sight of a tail fin. Kagami slipped the mirror off from around her neck to speak with her reflection again.
"So he has powers too." Imagak pointed out. "That means that he can't be from Hunterpack. I saw everything while you were trapped there, and I could tell that none of them had powers."
"I guess you're right," Kagami said back, breathing a sigh of relief.

The fish had gone out another few yards, and Sliver slowed down, trying not to disturb the water as he moved. It worked, and he quietly came up behind the large trout and killed it. The fish was a good size, and since he had company, it might be a good idea to be polite. He swam back onto shore and pulled the fish back up with him. "Would you like some?" He asked. After all, he could always catch another one. As the saying goes, there are plenty of fish in the sea. He nosed the fish forward and waited, thinking over what she had said before he had made his random jump. He quickly found another fish drifting lazily through the waters. Speaking of other fish... He thought, watching the fish, just in case. A calm seeped from the water, and it seemed for a moment, but just for a moment, that all was right, that no one was hunting them to extinction, and Sliver wanted to get lost in this feeling so bad. It was an impossible dream though, and the feeling soon passed.

"Sure. Thank you," Kagami said politely. She'd never actually had fish before, but it was always interesting to try something new. Sniffing it for a moment, she took a small bite to try it. It was actually pretty tasty, so she took another, slightly larger bite. "This is really good," she commented. "I've never seen a wolf that could fish before. Then again, I don't really see wolves very often. Most of the time I try to keep to myself. Even that doesn't help, though. I keep feeling that an enemy could be watching at any moment, just waiting to pounce on me. Maybe paranoia is getting the better of me, but I just feel like I'm being watched sometimes." She had never said this much to any other wolf besides her own reflection. She licked her paw and ran it over the other ear this time, calming what little anxieties she had left.

He watched her try the fish, and she apparently liked it. She sat there and talked for a bit, and he thought over what she had said for a bit more. "You should probably talk to others more. If you're worried about being tricked, find someone who is obviously a loner, like a wolf with wings or four eyes or something. Paranoia isn't something you want to live with." He was a fairly helpful wolf, and paranoia was definitely something he couldn't just leave alone. Besides, she was nice enough, and nice wolves shouldn't be left to deal with life on their own. If you didn't help them out of kindness, then the feeling of being in one giant spread out pack should help. And if none of these where enough to get you to help, at least keep them away from the Alpha. Oh yes, and what about all of the other wolves that he's already gotten? A part of his mind noted dryly. He got rid of that thought with a shake of the head though. After all, he can't be everywhere.

"I know," she whispered quietly. She tried, she really did. The only problem was the incedent that she had with Hunterpack all that time ago. She'd always been cautious around others after that, and began a life of almost total seclusion. She was starting to come out of her shell, but she still felt a little on edge.
"This paranoia is horrible for me to bear sometimes," she continued. "Sometimes I just can't sleep because I'm afraid that if I do, I won't ever wake up again. I'm constantly tense and alert and I can never tell who to trust. All because of that stupid Hunterpack!" She clawed the ground angrily at the mere mention of them. She let them get her once, and she could never let that happen again. Still, the solitude was hurting her more than helping her; she knew that for a fact.

"You should never think like that. Hunterpack are to sure of themselves to just sneak up on you. If they found you and you were asleep, they would make so much noise trying to get to you that you could wake up and run...or fight." He through in the last part to help her a bit. He could tell from how she secluded herself that she probably wasn't a fighter. Unfortunately for her, fighting was often the best thing to do, as a scouting party that comes back half-empty has more persuasion in leaving you alone than one that watched you run. His stomach growled, and he stared at the black blob at sea with undisguised hunger. He wanted to help Kagami get over her seclusion and paranoia though, and helping others should always come before helping yourself. At least, thats how he always believed things should be like.

"Wow. I guess I never thought of it that way. I can fight; it's just that most of the time I prefer to avoid conflicts. I guess I should stick up for myself more often." She knew very well that as a wolf, fights would be inevitable. She needed to be able to protect herself in a situation where she would be unable to run away. She had gotten into a few small scraps in her lifetime, but usually she avoided fights. That didn't mean that she was defenceless. The only catch was that if she was going to fight, she would need someone to fight with her, right at her side. That was one of the reasons that she was thankful for the power that she had; all she needed to do was conjure a reflection of herself to fight beside her. Still, it would be nice to spend time with others.

"Exactly, you always have that option." Sliver was really hungry now, and he was having a hard time not eating the fish he had brought her. Lucky for him, he figured that now would be a good time to let her think everything over, so he got up and slipped back into the water. Pushing off of the beach, he came up on the fish fast. He was too hungry for stealth, so he was just going to out-pace it and catch it. His plan worked, barely. He had cramped up with effort, but only after the wriggling fish was in his jaws. He swam back to shore, moving slowly to avoid aggravating the cramped muscles in his stomach. It took a lot longer to get back because of the evil cramp, but he managed to haul himself ashore and place the fish in the sand. After a minute's breather, he began to eat. The warm smoky flavor gave him some strength and loosened his cramp, but it still throbbed painfully.

Kagami quickly finished off the fish. It was really tasty! She was about to thank Silver for it when he headed back into the water. It was understandable for her; she had eaten, and he apparently hadn't yet. Laying down for a moment, she started to think things over. She had a tendency to do that a lot.
Fighting back when she was attacked would probably be better than running away in some cases. If she were to fight back if Hunterpack ever found her, she'd have a chance to show them that she was not just some little coward that they could push around like a sniveling dog. Plus, she'd get stronger if she fought back instead of fleeing.
"That's what I've always been trying to tell you!" her reflection hissed from the discarded mirror. Kagami sighed; now she was going to rub it in her face. Then again, they were technically the same wolf, so it wouldn't really matter.
